leads to another and another etc. And as the old saying goes, time flies when your having fun, and we certainly were!! Next thing we knew I was borrowing money from Justin based on a promise to transfer funds into his account, we’d missed the last bus back to Encarnation and had checked into a room at the hotel!! I’m pretty sure that it’s the first time we’ve had two hotel rooms in one night, but as they only cost about 4 quid it just seemed to make sense!! We drank and talked well into the night and when it was finally time to retire, Hel sat down on our bed and it fell apart!! Fortunately though it was a family room so had an extra bed!! It was definitely a Faulty Towers kind of place!!!

After a bit of a hungover breakfast we said our goodbyes to Justin and Zoe and got the bus back to Encarnation. It was great to spend some time with some like minded people and we hope we can catch up

After retrieving our stuff from the hotel in Encarnation we battled our way back over into Argentina negotiating customs checkpoints and crowded local buses and booked a ticket to Corrientes, an overnight stop on the way to Mercedes, the gateway to the Reserva Provincial Esteros del Ibera, the wildlife wonderland which was our next destination.

It had been a fun couple of days and whilst we both appreciated we hadn’t really seen the best of Paraguay we did feel that the people were very friendly and inquisitive, seeing as Paraguay is one of the least visited country in South America. Paraguay is also one of the poorest countries and this is pretty evident, you just have to look at their money to realise that.
