LEMAIRE CHANNEL TO PORT LOCKROY
of the sights at Port Lockroy we climbed on the zodiacs once more and were whisked round to an adjacent island and had a short landing at Jougla Point. Unfortunately we came across yet more visible signs of the whaling industry and we saw stacks of Fin and Blue Whale bones and parts of their skeletons. One had been reconstructed and it was sickening to think of how these poor creatures had suffered so terribly, but it did give you a good perspective as to how big they actually are. We didn’t spend too long looking at the whale bones and made our way around the island and sat and chilled with the penguins for a while before heading back to the zodiacs and getting a lift back to shore.
