STOCKHOLM
inspected!
Stockholm is generally an Ace city - it’s built on loads of islands with a correspondingly large numbers of bridges - one part of the water is a lake which is at a higher level than the sea, so they need locks and a weir to connect them. There’s lots of variation in the city, with loads of huge, grand buildings, little old town streets, loads of parkland, and massive cruise ships in the harbour. There’s the modern bit as well, but that’s just like any other city. Although we did find the offices of the ferries to Tallinn there, and booked our voyage - a 2 berth ensuite cabin for £63! Fantastic!
We went on a short boat tour around the Royal canal, past Norra Djurgården which is the royal island, and is basically one big park. One of the attractions is the home

We had an awesome meal that night in a little place on top of a cliff which did a vege-buffet! Ace food, and loads of it - a little too much actually! ;) There was a fantastic sunset over the city from their terrace, but unfortunately we didn’t have a camera with us. The amount of food took some walking off, but then finishing off the box of wine left over from Oslo (cheers Cath) got us off to sleep nicely!
Had a look round the government buildings on the last morning, and got the first real bit of sunshine, before heading off to catch our ferry. It was on the way out of the city where we discovered the real magic of Stockholm, the Archipelago! 24,000 islands which just seem to go on forever! This was a magical place, augmented by a fantastic sunset
