YEKATERINBURG

LOST TRACK OF DATES!!

Boarded the train and nothing too eventful happened. One we boarded we all decided to drink lots of vodka and have a laugh, we were up till the wee early hours and all went to bed feeling rather merry. Woke up with a bit of a headache early afternoon. We must have really pissed off the Provineesta (train attendant) as she turned off the air conditioning in the carriage where we had the party, fortunately for us it wasn’t ours. No other passengers seemed too bothered except the Provineesta but she was a bit of a battle axe to be fair to us!

Arrived early evening in Ekaturinburg and transferred to our hotel, it wasn’t the most plush place we’ve ever stayed in but it was cheap and cheerful. Had a shower and chilled for a bit then hit the town! It was not the most inspiring of places but the saving grace that night was that we found a wicked Italian, which was
heaven after the pot noddles and pot mash train food!

Weren’t in too of a hurry to go sight seeing due to the fact that there weren’t very many sights to see. Ekaturinburg is famous for being the birth place of Boris Yelstin and not much else really. Managed to while away the hours and warmed to place after a while, it was a bit ruff around the edges but people seemed quite pleasant as far as Russian standards go!

Met up with everybody for dinner, and went to a traditional Russian restaurant, which was very good. Before we knew it the time was ticking by and it was time to board our train for our really mamouth 51 hour train journey to Lake Baikal.
