BEIJING
27 - 30TH JUNE
Met up for our final breakfast with Noah, said our goodbyes etc and met up with our new group for a visit to the Summer Place. The Summer Place was the holiday resort of Chinese emperors during the hottest months in Beijing, so we knew it would be steeped in history and have some very beautiful buildings and gardens, and such enough we weren’t disappointed. It was extremely busy and hot but we did manage to find some tranquil little tucked away corners, we managed to lose the rest of our group fairly early on, Greg our tour leader doesn’t believe in hanging around when it comes to walking so when I stopped to nip to the loo he and the rest of them had marched off before even Rob could say hang on - there had been some vague plan to meet up at North Gate at 12 so to be honest we weren’t really too disappointed! We had a free afternoon and spent most of the time
chillin and sorting stuff out in our room, Rob wasn’t feeling so good, he had a nasty sore throat (which I think he had caught of me) and I think the heat had knocked us both for 5 so it was nice to do nothing! That evening we went to see an acrobats show, which was both incredible and exhilarating, these people are so bendy its unbelievable, there were some incredibly cute children, a girl spinning umbrella’s on her feet, loads of stuff which was all brilliant, apparently these acrobats are really famous and tour the world so if anybody gets the chance to see them - you definitely should!
We were up at 6 for our hike at the Great Wall, no lie-in’s on this trip! It was a 3 and a half hour drive so quite a journey before we even set foot out of our bus, we went this far as it is supposed to be the least touristy section of the wall, I would hate to see the touristy bits! No it’s not that
