Greg had advised us to try his friends travel place to sort out our overland trip so we found ourselves at the Snowland hotel asking about trips to Mount Everest! If we went overland it would mean we would need to extend our visas which isn’t supposed to be the easiest thing to do while in Tibet, but we thought the travel agents would be-able to sort it for us. We explained when and where we wanted to go but were told that we would need to go on Friday and do the trip over 4 days as this travel agents didn’t do visas and the bloke advised not to try and extend them ourselves as they hardly ever gave out personal extensions. get our money-belt from the safe for starters but Rob was saying that we should at least try and do visas as neither of us wanted to cut short our stay in Lhasa by a day, so as we were on our way round to the bank Rob realised that he had forgotten the map, so off we went back to the hotel with me grumbling about time and him being very forgetful! Thankfully it turned out to be for benefit because as Rob was asking the hotel staff to mark on the map where we needed to go, the manager came over and just by chance he has a friend who runs a travel agency which deals in visa extensions so before we know it we’re sat in a different travel agents sorting out a trip which suits us down to the ground and Rob was gloating about the fact that it was great that he was so forgetful cause if he wasn’t then we wouldn’t have been able to sort out our trip!
