TIBETEN HIMALAYA

The next morning we enjoyed a Tibetan breakfast and were on our way. We hadn’t been travelling 5 minutes though when we came to the spot where we’d walked the night before - however, this time there was a clear view of a large mountain, we thought it was Everest, but our guide soon put us right. We took a few photos, and just as we were ready to leave, the clouds shifted slightly, and the side of an altogether bigger mountain came into view!! This one was indeed Everest, and the clouds were clearing, so we asked the guide if we could hang on for 10 minutes or so to see if they cleared. We did, and the mountain did start to clear, but after 15 minutes we decided we didn’t think it would clear anymore, and set off. Just as we’d been driving for about half a mile, we looked back to see that the clouds had cleared completely, and there was Mount Everest in full view! It was a magnificent sight seeing it across all the fields and grasslands,
it really was an altogether different perspective. And we felt amazingly lucky, because as we looked around the sky, there was cloud around the horizon in every direction with the exception of a small break in the clouds, just where Everest was!! So a couple of hasty photos from the jeep and away we went.

The road was much better out of Tingri, which was a good job as we had a long way to go today. Again the scenery was amazing, following huge rivers down equally huge valleys. As we turned a corner, another massive snow capped mountain loomed up over one side of the valley we were driving down, and we stopped to take a photo, Then we realised that the road actually turned and went up the side of the valley, and the guide told us that we would be climbing up to another 5000m pass, and that we should have great views of that mountain. This pass was basically where the road crossed the Great
