PENINSULA VALDES
Obviously it was a very different experience from the boat but you could quite clearly make out the huge dark shapes moving along near the boats!! Elated but very thirsty we headed on back to the town and bought some very large drinks before enjoying a meal at a beachside restaurant. We considered ourselves very lucky to have seen the whales again, as we hadn’t met another person on our whole walk, and no-one had mentioned that it was possible.
We woke up on our last day having really seen all there was to see in this little town, but with the only bus home at 6pm we had a chilled day wandering around the shops. I bought myself an ace whale T shirt to replace some of my older battered ones which I’ve had since China. We then spent most of the afternoon hiding from the blazing sun under the trees in our hostel’s garden and playing cards!! We had decided that on our return to Puerto

Madryn we would try to get an overnight bus to Bariloche, our next destination, as there wasn’t much too keep us there really. Unfortunately we arrived at the bus station to find that all the buses for that night were sold out, and so another night there was unavoidable. We bought our tickets for the next night and checked into an even worse budget hotel than the previous one!! The night was saved though by a local cocktail bar which had a great vibe and then another pretty good pizza!!
Our bus the next day wasn’t until 9.30pm, so a long day was inevitable. We checked out loads of stuff on the internet for a couple of hours before heading off for lunch. What looked like a great choice of restaurant, right next to the ocean and with a varied veggie menu, turned out to be a nightmare. We ordered what was down on the English menu as vegetable pancakes. Imagine our horror then when a bowl arrived
