one point! We took a few snaps and were happy in the knowledge that we were very privileged as hardly anybody ever gets to see it. There was also an Engine Room Tour programmed in for the afternoon but seeing as we had already had a very personalised tour we decided to give it a miss - once around the engine room is definitely enough for me!

Thankfully we had come to calmer waters and the ship was now just gently rocking which made for a pleasant journey. We watched ’Around Cape Horn’ which is a documentary from 1929 made by a sailor Captain Irving Johnson. It was an incredible film and made us realise how lucky we were to have such a modern ship! The commentary to the film was recorded later on and the story was told in a very practical and funny manner.

Wow this was to be our

very last night on board the Aleksey Maryshev, this sturdy little vessel had treated us well and the staff had just been fantastic. Due to the calmness of the waters and our continued high spirits we saw the night off in true party style. At some point we were invited by the Russian Diving team to partake in a vodka drinking session with them! All of those old memories of Russia came flooding back and they seemed very impressed that we had enjoyed their wonderful country. We were also joined by some of the fantastic Russian crew and Speedy and co had us up dancing until the wee hours of the morning. Rob also participated in a Russian sauna with temperatures rising to over 110 degrees! Needless to say he didn’t last in there very long! I’m not sure what time we got to bed but it had been another superb evening. We knew we would feel very sad saying goodbye to our new found friends.
