Again it was time to move on and say goodbye to our new found friends. It must be the highlight of the kids days when the tourist jeeps whisk through their village. I don’t know who is more curious, the gringos or the kids. I hope that tourism doesn’t spoil things too much but if by adding a little to their economy by means of using their loo, then I really don’t mind. We then continued on to our final stop for the night San Antionio de Lipez, which at 4260 metres above sea level is the second highest place we have ever slept in!

accommodation. It was pretty basic to say the least, the ceiling was covered with cereal boxes presumably to keep in the warmth, but this place had two flush loos and even a shower. None of us were brave enough to try out the cold shower but it was there nevertheless! We were all in the same room and picked our beds, we all had extra sleeping bags so hopefully we wouldn’t get too cold.
Then me, Rob and Jannik walked down into the village and watched an amazing distant sunset. There was also an impromptu game of football with a good number of kids and their mums, all dressed in their traditional ladies outfits complete with bowler hats. We watched from afar as we didn’t want to interfere or spoil their fun. The housing in that village was incredible and I mean that in the way of how people have so little to make a house with. Most of the roofs were corrugated iron sheets held on with stones
