YANGTSE RIVER CRUISE
cause you have seen pictures of it before any flooding but the scenery just somehow looked wrong, it seemed like you were sailing far to high up the side of the gorge in relation to its size - its hard to explain, but the water level just seemed far to high to be natural, which of course it is.

After an afternoon of deliberating the pro’s and conn’s of the damn it was soon dinner time all meals were included on this part of the tour so Rob was eager to see what was on offer! We weren’t sure how authentic the food was going to be but it was OK, nothing too special but at least there were a few veggie options. There’s another couple Anna and Jessy (Jessy’s a lad) they eat fish but the rest of group kept tucking into the veggie stuff as this was served first, so there were pleasant but firm words that they should back off until we had got what we wanted!!! Then came the entertainment, it
wouldn’t have been so bad if we had been drinking beer that got you slightly merry but painfully we sat through the staffs routine and clapped at the appropriate moments!!!

There were excursions arranged for each day we were on the boat, and todays was a trip up through a smaller gorge then a trip on an old fashioned Chinese boat (sorry can’t remember the boats name). Going through the gorge was lovely but again it was incredibly touristy and everybody had to wear bright orange life jackets, I’m sure they made us wear them for a laugh! We arrived at the end of the gorge and were transported onto an old style wooden boat, which was rowed sort of like a gondola, we went upstream and were told about how this area had been flooded and how the farmers had lost there land but were given houses as compensation (there was a row of about 6) and now were farming higher up the hills, doing tourist
