YANGTSE RIVER CRUISE
up. (Sorry Jo H I’m really not trying to be un-religious I just really don’t know my bible!).

We were wishing our time to be over on this boat as it wasn’t really what we had expected, we were hoping for some old style Chinese culture and all’s we found was a tacky tourist affair, not really our style. And now for the worst part of it all, the evenings talent show - I can’t really describe the feelings of dismay when we both found out about this fun event! We found out over dinner as the rest of our group were enthusing about what to perform, we just looked at each other and that was enough to settle of minds that we were to take no part in this farce - enough was enough, we hastily exited the dinner table and retreated to our cabin, but no we were soon found and informed that the meeting for the talent show was at 2 - Rob politely informed Greg that we wouldn’t be joining in - we
were true outcasts!!!
We had dinner and there was much talk about the flaming talent show, can you imagine how bad this thing was going to be, it was bad enough watching the staff of the boat perform tacky shows never mind get involved in one yourself. We weren’t even going to go and watch the thing but guilt set in and I forced Rob to go and support our fellow travellers - I just want to make it clear that I most definitely didn’t want to go myself but felt that seeing as were going to be spending a few more weeks with these people it would be rude if we didn’t even watch them seeing as they seemed so excited about the whole affair! It was truly awful the only saving grace was that we had sacked off the cheap weak beer and moved on to the hard 4.2% stuff!!! The best saving grace of the evening was the lightening storm we were watched from top deck at around midnight, the only other time we have ever seen just lightening was in Switzerland a
