LIJANG

14TH - 16TH JULY

Lijang has another well preserved old part to it’s city, yet again the Chinese have built loads of horrid new concrete blocks around this old gem, but thankfully had to sense not to knock down the old part, but it might have something to do with the fact that it’s a Unesco world heritage site! Our hotel was called Square Inn and was just off a very cute little street, again it was quite touristy but it still managed to retain its charm well. We had a really good room with our own bathroom, there were only 2 rooms with their own bathroom which was why it was such a nice surprise to see it and an even nicer surprise to see a western style toilet! We had free time here so thankfully we didn’t have to rush about so it was really good just to relax, have a shower at leisure and chill. We ventured out for food a bit later on and found a lovely restaurant with a very friendly waiter who was every so happy about the fact we were English and kept coming over for a chat, which was a
little broken but nice! We ordered well except for the Sichuan (excuse spelling!) Tofu which seemed to contain meat so we gave that a miss but polished off the rest and drank our 7-up, beer was definitely off the menu tonight! It seemed like hard work making our way by to the hotel, the stiffness had really kicked in by now so we climbed into bed and were out like a light! We had a cracking lie-in it was the first one we’d had for ages so we made it out for brunch around 11.30 and went to the Reggae Café, a really cool place that played some wicked tunes!

We had a very chilled day just wandering around all the old back streets, found a vegetarian restaurant which later on in the day we went to a snack! Oh I yeah the food was massive, Rob had a cheese and vegetable sandwich and I had banana pie with ice cream, Rob’s sandwich was a proper door stopper but was extremely yummy and my banana
