LIJANG
pie which looked more like a Cornish pasty and was equally delicious. It was only a small place and there were a few people jamming in there so it was had a really good vibe! The food was really good but a bit too large seeing as we ate it around 4.30 and we were due to go out for our last group meal at 6.30! I can’t say that I felt particularly hungry when we met up with everybody but we managed to scoff down a pizza each never the less! It was quite weird the last night as it wasn’t really our last night as we were going off with Greg and Anna and Jesse a couple from New York to continue our journey to Chengdu and then just the 4 of us would go onto Lhasa. We found a nice little bar after the restaurant and had a beer but yet another early start meant that we wouldn’t be partying the night away, this time we were up and away for 6.20 and this time we had to be on time as we had a flight to Kunming to catch. We had 2 hours in Kunming which gave us enough time to get to get some snacks for our
overnight train journey to Chengdu and get an early lunch. We said our goodbyes and went off to get snacks and lunch, we found a western style restaurant and choose a sandwich each as we thought this would be a quick thing for them to make, only in China could a sandwich take so long!
We jumped in a cab and went off to the train station which was an absolutely massive building, fortunately the x-ray machine area was reasonably quite which came as a great relief but there was the usual crush towards the train once the gates had opened and you were allowed to start boarding. I can’t say anyone was looking forward to this journey seeing as the last train we’d got was so grotty but this one was a definite improvement, they even had little screens in each berth and we were treated to Finding Nemo in Chinese and of course the sound was turned up as loud as it would possibly go, so it did get a bit
