NORTHLAND
sometimes to get back to basics and be at one with your environment, instead of having everything handed on a plate to you. You couldn’t have asked for anything more, there were at least 2 beautiful bays within about 1 minute of the campsite, flushing toilets and cold showers! Fortunately we have a solar shower included with Bongo so we filled it up, left it in the sun and were looking forward to a warm shower at some point! We walked down to a beach on the west coast which would definitely get the sunset, Rob went for a swim, I wasn’t that brave as it the ocean was rather chilly! We then wandered along the beach and watched the most fabulous sunset, there wasn’t another soul on the beach so we had the sunset all to ourselves - heaven! That night we were again treated to crystal clear skies and an awesome display of the southern skies and their dancing stars. We saw 3 of the biggest shooting stars either of us have ever seen, one of them just as Ohj was playing a bass solo on a Dust Junkys track - it was
just incredible!!!
We were woken up by the heat of the sun beating down on Bongo. We were up like a flash and ready to go on the one big walk you could do in the area, unfortunately we couldn’t find the path, must to Rob’s annoyance! We didn’t have any walking maps, but hey it wasn’t really that much of a problem, we simply walked back across the bay and went for a swim. The water was fabulous, it was crystal clear, fairly warm and wasn’t a big surfing beach so it made for easy swimming. We had a great afternoon playing around jumping through waves and generally splashing around. After a hard day at the beach we headed back to Bongo and tried out our solar shower, obviously it wasn’t the most powerful one we’d ever had but it certainly wasn’t the worst, it was warm and got us clean, what more could you ask for! We just felt so relaxed it was untrue, we’d had yet another great
