HILO & MAUNA KEA
couldn’t afford to hire one for the whole time we were there. It was all going wrong, but at least we had the world cup!!!

We met a German girl Stef and an Aussie lad who were both football mad, so we watched the days football games with them. Stef was hilarious, so we were very pleased to have met up with her as she was really funny and cheered us up no end. We had a very lazy day and the only thing to report was that one set of our rechargeable batteries got stolen from the battery charger! What was weird was that they just stole the batteries and not the charger but hey it was better for us. We went down to the local beach and watched the sunset which was pretty special so things were looking up.

The next morning was the day of the 2nd Germany game and it was great watching it
with a very nervous Stef. We booked the car and tried to hire bikes which turned into a right palaver and even though the bike which Rob wanted was there, he couldn’t hire it because they didn’t have a key for the lock?!!! Who knows, they also wanted a $75 deposit for each bike so we sacked it off and went for a walk. We found some great gardens, Rob bought a couple of tasteful Hawaiian shirts and we headed back to the hostel. After dinner we watched Walk the Line, the film about Johnny Cash’s life, which was really good.

We’d set the alarm and were up and out of the tent at just before 6.00 a.m. as today was England’s turn at impressing the world with there fabulous footballing skills. Today we were against the mighty Trinidad and Tobago! Well say no more you all know the result! What a load of tosh!! We were getting a bit bored as they wasn’t anything really to do where we were,
