ARIZONA
storm!! After a picnic in a local park we headed to the Arboretum to check out some trees and plants - it was a lovely place to spend a couple of relaxing hours walking around the flora!! Later on that night we got talking to some of the people at the hostel and were invited to a house party. At this house party was a piano, and I just couldn’t resist, before long there was a group of people all stood round the piano having a good old singsong!! As the beer flowed the singing and piano playing got better (honest!), and we arrived back home at around 5am!!

As a result of the night’s merriment, there wasn’t much got done the next day, we managed to drag ourselves out for a very nice Thai lunch, but not much else!! So the next day we were up early and determined to do something, so we headed off up to Sunset crater, an old cinder cone which caused some kind off fuss when it erupted 900 years
ago! Unfortunately the rain kaiboshed that idea so we headed for the sanctuary of the Museum of Northern Arizona, which was fascinating - all about the history of the various Indian tribes who inherited this area. In fact they still do, but as with all the indigenous people we’ve come across, they’ve had a really raw deal from the white people!! Back at the hostel we met Matt and Jo, a couple from Liverpool, so we had a good old chat with them!!

Our last day in Flagstaff saw improved weather so we headed up to Sunset Crater again, there was a viewpoint which looked right over the desert Plateau back towards Sean’s, and a walk around the cinder cone where there were loads of lava flows - didn’t think we’d be seeing them again so soon - Arizona does have it’s surprises!! We spotted an all you can eat pizza hut on the was back through Flagstaff, so we feasted on pizza, pasta and salad
