ARIZONA
said goodbye to our hostel and headed for the desert museum. We were absolutely stunned with this place, it was huge!! There is a manmade cave to walk through, a trail through the desert, and allsorts of exhibits on everything from the geology through the Indian populations and the wildlife of this desert region!! Our favourite part though was the zoo. It consisted entirely of rescued animals who would otherwise not be with us! They obviously did some very good work. The highlights were the mountain lions and bears, which along with the wolves all lived in enclosures which surrounded two deer’s enclosure. I’m guessing they were pretty paranoid deer!! We managed to use up all of our camera memory that day - and were there for a total of 6½ hours, which just shows how good it is!! We were quite late setting back off for Sean’s as a result.

For the past few days I’d had steadily worsening
toothache, and had to go and see the dentist to be given the great news that two of my teeth had to come out, one wisdom tooth and the one next to it. I can’t say I was looking forward to that so much, but it was hurting like hell. We took Sean and the kids to the all you can eat Chinese for a farewell dinner, as I figured I wouldn’t be able to eat on the next day, which was our last at Sean’s. I dutifully went back to the dentist the next day for the “extraction” and was very pleasantly surprised to find that, rather than the screaming agonyfest I’d been expecting, it was all over very quickly, and with no pain!

So that was about it for Arizona, the three weeks seemed to fly by - it was great seeing Sean again, great to meet Kamen, and great to have the kids around. We are indebted to all of them for making us feel so welcome and looking after us so well!! Our place next time
