THE LAKE DISTRICT (ARGENTINA)
wasn‘t great.

As it happened we woke up and the sun was shining. Our little minibus came and picked us up from the hostel and we set off towards Junin de los Andes, the next town north of San Martin, and the nearest town to the park. On the way we caught a glimpse of Volcan Lanin, and it really did look impressive, with no clouds obscuring it at all. So it was all the more annoying when we stopped in Junin and visited a church. The guide on the tour, who only spoke Spanish, and very very quickly, proceeded to go on and on and on about god knows what in this church. We were there for a good three quarters of an hour, and I was becoming very frustrated that the beautiful clear skies weren’t going to last forever, and we should be going to the park to see the volcano!! When we finally drove into the park we once again were treated to a fabulous view of the volcano out of the window. Great I

Imagine how annoyed I (a proper little ray of sunshine he was - Hel!) was then when we pulled into some place with no view of the volcano which we were going to visit, and we had to pay a small amount to get in. It was doubly annoying when we realised that the place we’d just paid to get in was in fact a fish farm!! This didn’t hold much interest for me, but it was even less of an attraction for poor Hel, who spent the entire time in the car park taking pictures of the resident hound who had amazing eyes!! When we eventually left there we finally pulled over near the edge of a lake and were able to get some photos of the elusive Volcan Lanin. The clouds were just starting to come in by then though, and I was in a proper mood because we’d missed the great clear weather of the morning with things which I considered to be a complete waste of time (and believe me he went on and on - Hel!). We then pulled in at a restaurant where we had an hour and
