SANTIAGO
impression was of an extremely European city. It was very busy with lots of shops that you would find in any city at home. We looked around for a couple of hours mostly just window shopping before heading back to the hostel where we did some internet stuff and spoke to Cath on Skype. As it was our last night we’d decided to go out for some food with Phil and Shawn, an American girl we’d met at the hostel. We’d had our eye on a Chinese restaurant we’d seen around the corner and so went there. My food was pretty good, but I think the veggie offerings were a bit bland. The portions were enormous though, and we all left feeling very full. There was only one thing left to do - yep, back to the hostel for some wine and games of Yahtzee!!
The next morning we said our goodbyes to Phil and made some vague plans to meet up again somewhere in Peru or Bolivia. We had planned another relaxing day

before catching our bus to Mendoza, but our plans were very rudely interrupted by a knock on the door asking why we hadn’t checked out yet!! It turned out that there had been a misunderstanding between me and the girl on reception over how long we wanted to stay, so we weren’t booked in for tonight, and they had no rooms left!! Nightmare!! The hostel owner found us a room in a nearby hotel, which wasn’t up to much but did have a TV with the Champions League on so that was all good!! After watching one match I headed out to the local Domino’s Pizza for an extremely tasty mushroom pizza. (Actually it was buy one get one free so we ended up with huge amounts of pizza!!) .
Well we hadn’t seen much of Santiago outside of our hostel, but to be fair there wasn’t really loads to see and it had been a very fun week with Phil, Keely and Shawn!! I don’t think we could cope with partying like
