AMAZON BASIN - JUNGLE
of a little orange fruits which tasted a little like apricots and were apparently the favourite food of the wild pigs which frequented the area!!
We got to a small clearing which overlooked the river, and there was a rope swing made from vines, which we obviously both had a go on!! Angelo then made me a water bottle carrier from some vine and we were on our way again. As we ventured further into the jungle the path got less and less defined and it became apparent how handy Angelo was with his machete, to the point where we were thinking that we’d come to see the jungle, not cut it down!! Still there was an awful lot of it, and he seemed to know what he was doing!! We saw a huge spider in it’s web, and heard sounds of wild pigs snuffling and eating the fruits!! Just when we were starting to think we were lost we emerged from a particularly thick patch of vegetation into the back of the

This was our first meal on the tour and it was a good start – there were huge bowls of salad, rice and tuna – enough to feed at least six people - we even waited for a while as there was so much that we assumed the guide and driver would be joining us!! If the food carried on being this good we’d be very happy!! After eating we had around half an hour to relax in the hammocks before Angelo called us over for our afternoon’s activities. Firstly though, he presented us both with a ring which he’d made from the shells of some special nuts from on the jungle floor - we’d both been measured up earlier on. They didn‘t really fit too well, but we were both really chuffed anyway to have some traditional jewellery hand-crafted for us.
