DOLPHIN COAST & DURBAN
24TH - 26TH MAY
Well the sugar cane farm turned out to be a great place!! It was a really well looked after place in the middle of the farm with cane fields stretching as far as the eye could see. We’d asked for the cheapest kind of room but as they didn’t have any ready they just gave us an ensuite for the same price, which was top. It was actually two rooms in one, with two beds in one of them and a choice of four beds for Mike!! The whole place was just the perfect spot for a couple of days of serious relaxation!! There was a really good pool table as well so it didn’t take us long to rack ‘em up and get down to some hustling!!Dinner was a joint effort and we had decided on shepherds pie. It was all going really great until it had been in the oven for five minutes and there was a very loud crack from the oven!! Turned out that the dish wasn’t ovenproof - DOH!! It was only
a minor disaster though as it had just broken around the edge, so after transferring to a metal pan it was just fine!! The hostel had this huge fire basket filled with logs and we just couldn’t resist getting it going, a top night was spent around a very warm fire. The stars in this place were just amazing as there wasn’t much around to spoil the darkness.
The next day we had a drive around the coast, just a few miles down the road, but there really wasn’t much to do around there. We did want to go out for a meal though as it was Mike’s last night, and we found a very friendly bistro just down the road from the hostel and booked ourselves a table. Hel then got on with some photos and Mike and I played pool, until we got asked to stop as we were disturbing the conference going on in the bar. It seemed that the place also doubled up as a conference centre
