MOSCOW
that’s for sure, the ones which amazed me the most we’re the 2 18-ish year old army lads, they came and stood near us giving us a good stare, (somehow you kinda got the feeling we were standing out like sore thumbs!) and the one nearest to me, stood there and promptly opened his beer with his teeth- impressive huh!!! As you can imagine we didn’t hang around too long and made our way to our hotel, which was also very mad!

We were staying in hotel Delta which was an old soviet hotel, it was massive, the hotel was a big tower block and there was 5 of the things! We had to wait till noon for our rooms so we hung around till we got our rooms before heading into Moscow, the thoughts of tackling that metro again before a shower and food was just too much to think about! There was quite a bit of confusion with getting our rooms as we had been given a single room for everybody to put their stuff in
until our rooms were ready and then all the couples had to go and sort out a double room for themselves and with the language barrier and some of the older staff not being the most friendly or helpful it was fun to say the least!!! Quite and eventful morning all in all but after a nice hot shower some food and a chill we were ready to hit Moscow!

Thankfully the metro was a lot calmer than the morning’s extreme rush hour and only being 4 stops away from Red Square it was quite easy to use. Red Square is just amazing, it seemed smaller than it looked on the telly when you used to see clips on the news of the Russians showing off there military might, but no less impressive, St Basils Cathedral is just like a fairy-tale and thankfully Red Square is a traffic free zone, it makes such a difference, there was a huge stage being erected as it was Russia’s National Day the next day.
