MONGOLIA TO BEIJING
roads surrounding the square, and after a couple of streets we were into the Hutong area, these are really old traditional alleyways that are about to be bulldozed to make way for new housing and shopping projects. Beijing already was seeming to be a city of many contrasts. Dinner was incredible proper Chinese food, it made a pleasant change after all the train pot noodles and snacks, we ate loads, the eggplant and tofu in chilli sauce was a firm favourite. Chinese tradition is that one person usually orders food then it all placed on the massive lazy susan in the middle of the table and everybody helps themselves, we sort of kept true to the tradition except that we all ordered our own food, and everybody was very respectful to us veggie’s and didn’t stick there meaty chopsticks into our food.
