DELHI
To help the unsuspecting tourists with the barrage of touts they ban them from inside the terminal, there is also a prepaid taxi and train booking booth which was great as it meant we could pre-book our taxi so we didn’t have to bother with taxi and hotel touts and we could book our train journey for the next day and all before we had left the airport, so far so good. We had reserved a hotel room one near to the station as the train was leaving Delhi at 6.00 a.m. so we needed to be at the train station at 5.30am! We had paid extra for a room with air conditioning as it was averaging 40 degrees in Delhi and was extremely humid due to the monsoon, boy were we glad of that! The hotel also boasted it had a swimming pool but when we got there we found out that the swimming pool had been closed down by the police!!! We spent a lot of our time in Delhi using the internet as it had a unbelievably fast connection and we had a million photos to upload to our server, it was also too hot to go out and do much
and the area we were in wasn’t particularly nice so we didn’t mind too much. We are also flying out of Delhi so thought we could do our sightseeing then. Later on we ordered food and got sent to our room just in time to watch Chelsea’s lucky win over the mighty Wigan. Cracking goal by Crespo but a bit of a shaky performance by the mighty blues, but a win never the less!
The next day we were up at the crack of dawn and we off in a rickshaw on our way to the train station. The station wasn’t too bad after a couple of duff directions we found our platform and boarded the train, we had paid a bit extra to get chair class, as this guarantees you a seat in an air-con carriage as it’s a 5 hour journey, and because of this almost all of the carriage was filled with backpackers. A man came round selling some breakfast goodies and drinks so after a feed we had a little nap, and it wasn’t long
