before we were pulling into Kalka, where we needed to change trains for the last part of our journey to Shimla. The onward journey was on a smaller train with a narrow gauge and Lonely Planet had described them as Himachal’s toy trains, what it hadn’t made particularly clear was the length of the journey, so we were thinking oh another couple of hours, but no it was another 5 hour train journey and on a tiny slow train! It was the most uncomfortable slow train journey I have ever had, I didn’t enjoy very much mainly due to it being so uncomfy, but after a painfully slow 6 hours we pulled into a very rainy Shimla.
