HOI-AN & HUE
of the clothes shops!!! There were some really beautiful clothes though and some of the fabrics were just gorgeous! We spent the rest of the afternoon just wandering around window shopping, not only was this place full of beautiful clothes it also had some wonderful handicraft shops. It is a good job that we are travelling and not just coming to Vietnam, otherwise the credit card would have been in for an extremely severe hammering!!! Even Rob wasn’t complaining about all the window shopping we were doing, he seemed to be enjoying it as much as me!
After all of the walking and window shopping we were in need of some food, so we stopped for a snack, well we couldn’t decide whether to eat properly or just get a snack as it was around 4.30 p.m. We opted for the snack option and had veggie spring rolls and a local speciality noodle dish, Cao Lau! We hadn’t eaten since breakfast and wolfed it

in down within no time, then decided we were still hungry. So we decided to call it a starters and went off in search of another restaurant for something more substantial! After about 30 minutes we stumbled across a lovely little Italian which also happened to have a happy hour so popped in there for a pizza and bottle of red wine! It was so nice to have a glass or two of red wine, the wine was really good, they make it in Da Lat, a hill town in southern Vietnam, using Western methods. And only about 2 quid a bottle - heaven!!! The restaurant was on the river front and whilst we were eating we noticed the water lapping over onto the pavement but by the time we had finished it was right up to the doorway! It was a really mad sight, there were loads of mopeds parked up that just looked like they were floating, people were almost up to their knees walking through the water. Fortunately we found a way round without having to go paddling!!!
