HOI-AN & HUE
and a chilli!!! Now come on, what’s going on there, as if you can eat 4 raw cloves of garlic, Rob was kicking off (in a joking kind of way!) good and proper and I was going to suggest that maybe they should try cooking the food in the garlic and chilli rather than serving it raw!!! We obviously didn’t say anything but we both quite amazed by this food oddity!!!
Although that meal was disappointing we did also have some very good food in Hoi An, and Hoi An itself is a charming little place. Although very touristy but it has managed to retain its old charm and the people were genuinely warm and friendly.

had a pleasant 3 hour bus journey. We passed through some lovely countryside that still looked lovely despite the fact that it was pouring down for most of the way. Just before we pulled into Hue a man came round handing out a flyer for his hotel, it looked fine and was right outside where the bus stopped so we thought we’d check it out. After some haggling Rob got us a really good room (I’m still no good at haggling!) for only $7. Phew how hassle free was that! We were in need of some lunch so went out and to our delight we found a place that served baguettes with proper cheese! It was the first time in ages that we’d had proper cheese. Rob had tuna but was bitterly disappointed when he saw my proper cheese! It was really funny the first time we ordered baguette with French cheese, it was in Cambodia and we were amazed to find out that their interpretation of French Cheese is Laughing Cow cheese spread!!! Armelle would have kicked off good and proper!! Laughing Cow was used in everything that had
