HOI-AN & HUE
cheese in it, from baguettes to omelettes. Now I don’t mind the odd bit of cheese spread but it does get a bit much after a while! After a highly delightful lunch we checked out the immediate area then retreated back to our room to dig out our boots and waterproofs! After getting kitted out for proper winter weather we then headed down to the station to book our train tickets to Hanoi.

Later on we went for a wander and found ourselves in a lovely little bar, which had free pool and internet so we took advantage of the happy hour and ordered a beer for Rob and a glass of red wine for moi. They also were showing the goals from the previous nights Champions League and what a pair of cracking Chelsea goals, it was a joy to watch!!! Feeling in good spirits we had another tipple and were enjoying playing a spot of pool, to which I wasn’t very good, and after a few hammerings I decided to call it
a day and suggested we move on elsewhere. We had checked out the menu in the DMZ bar early in the day and Rob had his eye on the battered fish and chips (yuk) so off we went. We ordered food and another red wine and beer! This place was a lot more lively, there was a pool competition going on to which I didn’t partake! Although there was a lot of westerners in there, it was a really good atmosphere so we weren’t in a hurry to leave, and it didn’t help by the fact it was really cheap! We ended up talking to an Irish lad called Colin, who was also on a 2 year round the world trip. He had also had some good fortune with the Irish housing market and with his earning decided to head off round the world for a couple of years - sound familiar? He was away with 3 of his mates who weren’t so loaded and had got big loans to fund their trip!!! Enjoy now, worry about paying later was their motto!
