VIENTIANE
wasn’t the largest museum either of us have ever been to but it did have some interesting exhibits, and the gardens were lovely. Due to its small size we whizzed round it in no time at all. After this we went over the road to see Wat Sisaket, which is the oldest Wat in Vientiane. It was an incredible place, although the murals within the main building were badly damaged you could quite easily imagine how magnificent they would have looked in their hey-day. The building which surrounded the main temple housed a the largest collection of Buddhas either of us have ever seen, well over two thousand!! There were small insets within the building walls each of which housed a pair of miniature stone Buddhas in each. After all of this culture it was time for a drink and relax by the riverside, each evening food and drinks stalls set up and line the riverside ready for the evenings sunset. We were a little too early for sunset so opted for a can of pop and a sit down at a very local looking stall, a definite no frills affair but hey you don’t need anywhere too fancy to drink a can of pop! After this we were feeling pretty tired so we headed back to our room for a chill before we ventured out to eat later on.
This night we had decided to keep it cheap on the food front as there was a host of local no frills restaurants located opposite the river. We opted for one which looked fairly busy and ordered a couple of dishes. It wasn’t the best food it has to be said, so from then on we decided that it wasn’t worth it trying to save such a small amount
