determined to use it - I hadn’t cooked anything since we left Estonia back in June, and reckoned I’d be a bit out of practice!! I Managed to rustle up a decent veggie noodles in black pepper sauce though, and washed down with a couple of beers it was a welcome change. After a very warm and comfy nights sleep and a breakfast of mushroom omelette, we headed out for another walk around the city. This time through a big park on a hill, and a colourful temple, followed by some more of the seafront!! Before long we found ourselves heading back to the station to catch our train back to Taipei, kind of wishing that we’d split the four nights evenly between Taroko Gorge and Hualien.

Taipei
24th - 28th December

We arrived back in
Taipei around teatime on Christmas Eve, and got back to Jerry’s to find that the flat was empty. As we were pretty hungry by that stage we decided to see what the local supermarket had to offer, and to our amazement we found some veggie burgers, potato wedges and a “Pizza Pie”, which tuned out to be a kind of puff pastry slice which was cooked in a pan!! We were actually pretty amazed by the selection of veggie food in the freezer, another real turn up!! As we were cooking our feast, Brenda arrive with Ian and explained that they were at a church service, and she’d just nipped back. She did invite us, but also explained that the service was in Chinese, and very long, so we politely declined!!! Eventually they all arrived back and we had a few Christmas Eve drinks before heading off to bed to wait for Santa!!!

Christmas Day was pretty good fun, some friends of Brenda and Jerry’s came
