everything in and make a kind of soup! It was good to try the local food!! Afterwards we went to the local night market - something we weren’t looking forward to after some of the horrific night markets in China - but it turned out to be fine. It was more of a bunch of shopping streets really, with a few food stalls which thankfully didn’t sell anything nasty!! We had a go on the basketball games - they are very popular and Jerry is really good!! But the highlight was in the basement of one of the shopping arcades - a go kart track!!! It was fantastic fun!!! We got proper helmets with balaclavas included!!! And zoomed round on these little go karts!!! They were really fast, although once again I would have to concede that Jerry was the fastest!!! It rounded off a fun day pretty well!!

The plan for the next day was another walk followed by a trip to the public hot spring baths. Once we’d
driven to the start of the walk though the weather had come in really badly - it was very misty and drizzling. We decided that the walk wouldn’t be worth doing, so just headed to the hot springs. Quite an interesting experience!! Basically just a big hot pool which everyone sits in, not for long though as they were well hot!! We didn’t do an awful lot for the rest of the day, and then the next day we managed to get our zoom lens repaired, which we’d been trying to do for a while, so it was good to get that sorted. No such luck with the broken DVD drive on the laptop though, we’re really tuning into Sony haters their service has been dreadfully unhelpful everywhere. We had a look round the hugely imposing Chiang Kai-shek Memorial hall later on, which was pretty fascinating, telling the story of the political history of Taiwan.
