observation deck and were treated to even better views, we could see for miles and it was great to see where we had been to on our boat trip early in the day. We met a lady who was clinging to the sides and was absolutely petrified of heights and was giving her husband a jokingly hard time about dragging her up there!

After all of this excitement our tummys were rumbling and it was definitely time for lunch, we opted for a Sushi bar and filled up on veggie sushi and refreshing green tea. It wasn’t a bad effort and it’s always pretty amazing watching sushi being made. We had one mission we really needed to carry out and that was to see if we could get Rob’s hiking boots repaired. We had seen a boot repair place the day before and had thought we would go and check it out. The only one problem was that we had forgotten to bring his boots, so I ended up getting the bus back to the hostel while Rob
went off to get his hair cut. All of this only took an hour in total and it was very much worth it as his boots could be repaired and would cost up to $80 and save him the trouble of having to buy a new pair. We left his boots and arranged to go and collect them on our way back from Northland in around a weeks time. After a little more wandering we figured it would be a good idea to go and get the ferry over to Devonport as our feet were starting to ache and we were in need of a sit down! The ferry ride was only around 15 minutes and before we knew it we were back on our feet (ouch) and sauntering around Devonport. This was a cute little place and was home to a lot of Auckland artists, it had a very English feel to it but we were a little bit too tired to check it out fully. We’d had a really busy day so thought we’d head back to Parnell, Rob had already had his eye on the local fish and chip shop so our plan was to get a take-away, and eat back at the hostel.
