AUCKLAND
your usual kind of place and was very classy, I was presented with the most enormous veggie burger I had ever seen and was instantly glad I hadn’t opted for the deluxe model which would have been ever bigger! Rob scoffed his fish and chips and gave them a big thumbs up, already he was claiming they were better than Aussie’s ones, so I figured it wouldn’t be the last time he frequented a chippy! The hostel was pretty busy with people coming and going and we were pretty tired, so after our mammoth meal we headed up to chill in our room for the last time.

We had arranged for our campervan people - Backpackers Transport, to pick us up around 10.00 am. A little after 10 Keri our lady came along to take us to meet our campervan which was due to be our home for the next 10 weeks. En-route to her house she explained to us that the van was in at the garage getting a service, as they wanted to make
sure everything was OK with it, due to the fact that we were having it for such a long time. Keri said she could drop us off at the local Pac and Save and then come and pick us up by which time the van should be ready. Pac and Save was a brilliant warehouse type of shop so we stocked up and a whole host of goodies. True to her word, Bongo, our van, was ready and waiting for us. Bongo is a converted Mazda van and Bongo is the actual model name and not us just giving it a daft name! Bongo was kitted out really well and after finalising our paperwork, it was time for our New Zealand road trip and hit the road and head north to Northland.
