PARATI
definitely on my agenda but maybe on a day with less rain. What was also very interesting and unique to Parati was the number of cake stands that were dotted around the town. All of the cakes looked delicious and of course it would have been rude not to sample at least a couple of them, so we opted for the cake man who was located just outside our hostel and who we could keep an eye on from our bedroom window. This man was there come rain or shine, the staff rotated approximately every 6 hours which will give you some kind of indication as to how long these cake stands are around - they are extremely popular at all times of the day, with good reason as their wares are more than delicious!! Later that evening we went out for a lovely meal at a restaurant across from the beach, we got absolutely drowned getting there but we thought what the hell, it wasn’t cold just very very wet.
Again we
Again we
woke up to rain filled skies, it was a last minute decision coming to Paraty instead of heading further into the mountains and we were wondering whether coming to a beach town was the best plan seeing as it didn’t seem to anything other than rain. We were planning to head onto Ilha Grande, which is described as a true tropical paradise - hmmm, not so sure when its raining like there’s no tomorrow! By this point we were falling for Parati’s endless charm and thought that it wouldn’t be so bad if we ended up staying here for the whole time. Again we had a wander around the colonial streets, and the pretty houses and high tree covered mountains that came all the way down to the sea made us want to stay and sit this bad weather out. Paraty is incredibly pretty and being set on a jutting peninsula with endless secluded beaches and hundreds of islands dotted around the bay made for some pretty spectacular scenery and we were hoping we could get to swim in the warm turquoise waters some day
