URUGUAY
didn’t have a clue! Rob says that it actually translates as Unknown Southern Land! A bit more descriptive than my interpretation! The world maps were fabulous and we could have spent a lot longer studying them that we had time for. So next of the list was the tile museum! As predicted it didn’t take long to view all of the exhibits, in fact they were all basically in one fairly small room. Rob was less than complimentary about them but they were very old and it was pretty amazing that they had managed to survive this long. We did managed to get round the rest of the museums in all but a rather hasty manner. We then headed back to the hostel where I suggested we take a taxi to the bus terminal rather than walk in the hot sunshine.
So that was it, our whistle stop tour of Colonia del Sacramento was over and what a delightful little place it had been. I don’t really think we needed any longer

there due to the sights being concentrated into a very small area. It reminded us of Paraty and although these Colonial towns had been built with a dodgy history they do make for very pleasant visiting places. Next of the list was the capital Montevideo, a two hour bus ride away. This was the great thing about Uruguay, it is a very small country and the longest bus journey you can do is a mighty 6 hours! Relief after the distances you need to cover in Argentina!

The bus ride to Montevideo was fine apart from the air-conditioning unit leaking all over one side of Rob! I was a little surprised as to what had happened when I woke up from a little snooze. The air conditioning was leaking from the overhead
