PARQUE NACIONAL LOS GLACIERS
the glacier looked magnificent!!

There was a trail around the lake which led up to another Mirador which overlooked the glacier itself. This was fairly hard going as the wind had really started to pick up and there were some pretty ominous storm clouds gathering above the mountain range - we made it though, but then we figured it was time to be heading back, as we had a good three and a half hours walk to get back home. It was at this point that we realised that due to a small boo-boo made by me we didn’t have any water left in the camelback - Doh!! This made the walk back far harder than it needed to be and by the time we arrived back in El Chalten we were parched, so it was straight to the nearest shop for a couple of litres of cold liquid!!! By this time we’d been out walking for around 8 hours, and managed around 12 miles up and downhill and were basically mighty proud of ourselves!! So
we decided to treat ourselves in the local pizza restaurant, and had a delicious pizza accompanied by an equally delicious bottle of our favourite Vino!! We reflected on an absolutely wonderful day, one of the best mountain walks I’ve ever done! By this time though our legs were absolutely killing us, and we had some serious reservations about doing another walk of similar proportions the next day!!

As it happened the weather intervened the next day, and what had been the most wonderful mountain backdrop ever had turned into cloud, with no views at all! We felt really sorry for anyone who had come here for the day, as they will never realise how beautiful this place is!! In some ways we were thankful though, as it gave us chance to rest our legs in the morning, and then after lunch we opted to go for the almost flat walk to a nearby waterfall. The waterfall was pretty good, but again the wind
