PUNTA ARENAS & PUERTO NATALES

After saying our goodbyes we took a taxi back to La Posta Hostel where we had our lovely 2 bed-roomed apartment waiting for us! This is one of the best hostels we have ever stayed in and the standard of accommodation was just amazing. We had to wait a couple of hours for our room but the time seemed to fly as we had breakfast, caught up with emails and a few people on messenger. It seemed strange to be standing on dry land again and we felt like we were still swaying along to the Maryshev! Once we got into our room the first thing to do was catch up on some sleep!

We had arranged to meet Phil, Gary, Doris and Jacob for a last meal in Ushuaia. We arranged to meet in the Irish Bar. Irish bars are a definite world wide phenomenon and Ushuaia had a couple so we headed off down there to meet up with everyone for one last time. We were hoping for a top notch meal after
12 days of pretty bad food but unfortunately the all you can eat buffet didn’t really come up to scratch, but it didn’t really matter it was just good to see everyone for one last time. Doris was full of a cold so after the meal Doris, Jacob and Gary headed off. Phil was up for another beer so we headed to a bar and had a couple more drinks.

It was great to have a lie-in and thankfully they served breakfast till around 11 so we had a very leisurely morning! We had invited Phil round for a curry later on that night, so while Rob went shopping I decided to make a start on the Antarctica diaries while it was all still fresh in my mind! I spent the rest of the day slaving over the computer while Rob pottered around and started to make curry.
