llamas that were hanging around the handicrafts stalls and one took a particular shine to Rob in a lunging sort of manner then helped himself to a quick nibble on his arm!!!

Now it was only a quick ride back to Uyuni where our tour would end. Well, Rob and I were heading back to Tupiza with Hualdo and Christina, but it was time to say goodbye to everyone else. Uyuni is not a particularly special place but a town set up to deal with the salt flats tourism. We’d had such a fabulous time, even though everyone was feeling a little shaken after being in a jeep for so long. We’d got on really well with Fiona and it was a shame that our paths wouldn’t cross again, she was a great laugh. Jason and Cynthia had amused us with their constant fussing and Jannik with his endless photo poses with his cowboy hat! But for a group of total strangers meeting 4 days ago and spending almost every minute of the

day with each other since, we all got on exceptionally well and it had been quite simply fantastic.

Hualdo had a few things to do before we headed back to Tupiza so he dropped us near the main plaza and asked us to be back there in 20 minutes. The main plaza was pleasant enough and we just sat on a park bench and soaked up the sunshine. We were in for a long drive back, but it was far more convenient for us to head back to Tupiza as we were going to be once again crossing back into Argentina the very next day. The journey back was long and the scenery wasn’t a patch on what we had seen but we had the back of the jeep to ourselves so it felt good to be able to stretch out our legs and lounge over all three seats for a change. Hualdo did another fantastic driving job on the way back, it is incredible to think that these trips have only one driver, but boy can these people drive? They are
