YANGSHAU
Chinese people washing their clothes. It was a very fast flowing river too, but the best part was the view across into the pinnacle mountains which seemed to go on forever!! We wandered around the town and even managed to get a replacement for our broken battery charger (grrrrr) for £2! Can’t be bad!!

We decided that after the Yangtze cruise, we would take advantage of the English menus and eat on our own. Greg had recommended a restaurant, so we went to a lovely streamside bar for a couple of beers first, and found out that London had won the Olympic bid, as it was happy hour we felt the right thing to do was celebrate with a couple of Vodka Cocktails!! J On to the restaurant then, and they had veggie curry and rice!!!! Along with some other Chinese favourites! Two big full bellies later, and we couldn’t even try their speciality Apple crumble!

The next morning, Greg had planned a bike ride. Up at 7am for breakfast, and then we were presented with brand new full suspension mountain bikes for the princely sum of 60p for the day!!! We battled our way through the Yangshuo traffic we got into the countryside! It has to be said that this was one of the most scenic areas we have ever been to. We rode on winding roads which twisted their way through the mountains until we got to a small village which we rode through to another river. We stopped in a café which had the biggest selection of fruit juice I have ever seen, and then crossed the river on a little ferry! On the other side we were acquainted with loads of water buffalos, who just stare at you from in their pools and grumble when you ride past!!! An inevitable swim in the river was next on the agenda, although as we hadn’t brought swimming stuff it was only Rob who went in his undies!!! After a total of 6 hours out we arrived back in
