YANGSHAU
Yangshuo sweaty and hungry!!
One big Chinese lunch later and the afternoon was spent just wandering around the town. The rest of the group were trying snake for tea as it was a local speciality, we’d seen a National Geographic program on the Chinese eating snake, and it’s usual for it to be killed at the table, so we decided to give it a miss!! We figured we were Chinese fooded out, and we’d seen an Italian restaurant with a wood fired pizza oven, so we opted for that - and rather delicious it was too!! The restaurant was really cool too, we went upstairs only to find out that rather it looking like your typical restaurant it was decked out like somebody’s living room complete with stereo and tv! Some people were already in the sofa area so we found ourselves sitting cross legged on a stack of cushions in a little alcove overlooking the street! We had 2 veggie pizza that were

absolutely delicious and we were quite pleased with ourselves as we had been quite restrained on the food ordering front - for the first time we came out of the restaurant not feeling absolutely stuffed! We wandered back to our hotel through the maze of cute little streets with various bars booming out a variety of different styles of music! We both had said that if you weren’t of a tour this would be the type of place where you would probably end up staying for longer than you had ever intended.
The next morning I left Rob contentedly snoozing away as I went off at 6.25a.m. for my Tai Chi lesson, there were 5 of us who had signed up for the class so after I think his name was Dave our Chinese tutor (!) we made our way down to the river to begin. I think the easiest way to describe Tai Chi is like a chilled Kung Fu. We were all kind of hoping for a nice relaxed session and of course of tutor made it
