KUALA LUMPUR
13TH - 15TH JANUARY
We touched down on time and we’d had a good flight, so were in good spirits. Unfortunately we decided to take the bus into the city as it was cheaper than the train by quite some margin. We bought a return ticket as again this was the cheapest option - never again!!! It said in the guide book that it was a 30 minute journey into the city - hmmm it turned out to be more like a 2 and a half hour journey including waiting for the thing and then the mini bus transfer and the various drop off’s at many hotels throughout the city. What a bummer. We eventually got to the hostel, which on first appearances looked all closed up and we were like oh no, but we hammered on the door and thankfully were let in. The hostel was very much like a student house but the owner seemed really friendly and the rooms were OK. Again we were in a shared dorm which was OK as we were only going to be there for a few days. On the advice of the owner we went to the trendy western part of town, onreflection we should have had a look around, which we probably would have done had the bus not taken an age to get the 60 or so km’s from the airport! It was an incredible part of town and although really trendy and expensive it did have a charm to it. Although it was incredibly rubbish for veggie options and we were starving by this point so went to the only café serving anything like veggie food - salad and chips - hmmm. Rob was OK as he had fish and chips but I was thinking I hope the food options improve. After checking out the beer prices we decided to hit the 7-11 and buy a couple for drinking back at the hostel, it had been a very long day so the thought of a beer on a very comfy sofa in front of a big TV sounded very appealing.
Breakfast was included in the cost and it was a help yourself affair which suited us fine. We were up fairly handy and after breakfast we headed out to the tourist
