CAIRNS & THE ATHERTON TABLELANDS
few days what with Uluru and diving so it was nice to have a lazyish afternoon - not that we every get really stressed these days!!!
Again, we had a chilled out morning, the campsite was lovely and set in fine forested grounds so we weren’t really in a hurray to head off. In the afternoon we headed out to lake Eacham which had a 4 km trail around its edge, it was a lovely walk. We saw a turtle in the lakes clear waters and a very brown looking lizard camouflaged against a fallen tree trunk, check out the photos. After this we drove down to lake Barrine which is a more touristy area but was also very beautiful, we did a short rainforest walk and unfortunately Rob ended up with leeches clinging to his feet - yuk not those little blood sucking critters again!!! We headed back to camp after this and after I checked Rob’s feet for leeches (nice!) he cooked up a gastronomic delight and we washed it

We woke up and realised that it was 26th February, one year since we had sold our house, and wow what a year it had been. We certainly weren’t missing our DIY days or work so after reminiscing about the last year over breakfast it was time to go and check out the local waterfalls. It was a lovely sunny day and we drove through some fabulous scenery before reaching the first waterfall. In all we visited four waterfalls that day, the first Millaa Millaa, the second Zillie falls, third Elinjaa and fourth Millstream. All were fine and in full flow due to all of the recent rain, it was a great day and we finished it off late in the afternoon at the Crater, A 56 metre vertical rift formed by volcanic gases which have blown through fractured granite and formed a crater which has now filled up with dark green water. It was a pretty amazing site but not the
