the pool and having the odd dip in a very cooling pool. Not a bad way to spend the afternoon!!!

The campsite didn’t offer much if any shade so we were roasted out of our tent by around 7.30! We went for a short walk but it was really too hot to do anything. Apparently this were definitely higher than normal temperatures and everyone seemed to be feeling the heat. We had arranged to stay back in Alameda on Nightingale in a couple of days time which meant that we would have to start making our way south. We had a long drive ahead of us as we were hoping to get back down as far as Stockton, about an hours drive outside of San Francisco. As we drove south we noticed a large cloud looming ahead of us, and it turned out to be right over our destination, when we finally got there we found that not it was it still hot as hell, but oppressively humid as
well!

We were fairly tired after pitching the tent we decided to go for a walk around the park and down to the swimming area. We were hoping that a walk next to the river would give us some respite from the humidity, but no such luck! It was incredibly humid and made it quite uncomfortable. We found the swimming area and Rob went for a swim in the murky looking river while I sat and melted on the riverside! I hadn't brought my swimming stuff and was regretting it no-end. We thought we'd experienced humidity with the monsoons we experienced in Asia but that was nothing compared to this, it really was awful. We did briefly consider going back to the car and sitting with the air con on but decided to go for another walk around, as we did we felt the slightest of breezes and we keeping everything crossed that the clouds would clear and let the breeze through. After dinner the clouds had cleared and the humidity has subsided but it was still too hot for a
