DEATH VALLEY & LAS VEGAS


After settling into our room we chilled out for a while before going to the restaurant for something to eat. It was a funny sort of place, there was nothing for miles around except for this kind of old looking motel, campsite, unmanned Shell garage and an extremely long straight road! The sun had already gone behind the surrounding hills, the sky was turning a beautiful pink and the fading sunlight over the desert was fantastic. We grabbed a table outside and Rob and Andy went to check out the bar. They came back with some very dark looking beer in strangely shaped beer glasses but thankfully they were just for the boys and our drinks were a more palatable looking MGD - Miller Genuine Draft! We all thought that the food seemed very expensive but considering our location and lack of choice we guessed that the prices reflected this. Just before ordering Andy and I went over the road to check out the last rays of light, the sky was very fluffy with
wisps of pink and white clouds in a seemingly endless sky.

We ordered another round then got down to the business of ordering food. Thankfully there was a vegetarian choice and judging by the size of the portions Cath and I guessed we’d be Ok to share! Good old veggie lasagne was our given choice, so once the orders had been taken we sat back and relaxed. We ordered another round and got talking to the new owner, he explained to us how he hadn’t had the business for long and explained all of the troubles he’d had with getting his freezer to work properly!!! Pretty tricky in the desert, I would imagine! Our food arrived and Cath and I were right to share a portion the chunk of lasagne was massive.
