After our feed we headed back to the comfort of our motel room for a short chill before enjoying a glass of wine or two sat outside Sue and Eddie’s room. We were planning an early night as me, Rob, Cath and Andy were definitely up for getting up to watch sunrise. We had be told that the sunrise was around 6.30 am, so nothing too unbearable. Eddie was taking a lot more persuading than Sue on the getting up for sunrise point, he was complaining that he’d spent half of his life watching sunrises, whist being the breadwinner for god knows how many years!!! After much banter and laugher we all headed off to bed, me reminding Rob how wonderful is was to be sleeping in a nice big bed and not the tent!

Sure enough we were all up for sunrise, Eddie included! I’m not sure that the owner was overly correct with his sunrise prediction time but after around half an hour the sun peaked over the

distant hills and thankfully started to warm the place up! Rob reminded me that it wouldn’t have been too hot in the tent and we could have been watching this from the comfort of our sleeping bags!!! Again the cast of light was fantastic, lighting up the red rock a treat. After a good few snaps we headed back to the room to as we wanted to get on the road as soon as possible. We were heading off to Las Vegas and that would mean a very very very long drive. We also wanted to check out the sights of the desert, so knew it would be wise to get going sooner rather than later. We decided to grab breakfast before we left and figured that the restaurant would be fine at cooking toast - yes they were and after various refills we were ready to be on our way.

Our first stop on our desert tour was Rainbow canyon. It was incredible and not what any of us had expected from Death Valley. Its kind of weird
