ASTOLABE & DECEPTION ISLANDS
they were. After we got confirmation we could land everyone headed off to get changed and 15 minutes later we were on deck and preparing to board the zodiacs. We were told to keep all cameras in waterproof bags as the landing would be extremely wet! Basically the only way to land on this rocky shore is to drive the zodiac at full speed up onto the beach. It is times like this that you listen to the very experienced crew and do as you are told. This of course doesn’t apply to all! As the zodiac crashed with some force on to the beach Speedy stumbled over and once he regained his balance quickly turned off the engine and lifted it out of the water. Troels and Rupert had hold of the zodiac and Speedy was trying to make his way
