ASTOLABE & DECEPTION ISLANDS
a video of it and he is going to look into putting some of them on our website. Again we sat down and had a few inquisitive ones gave us a good looking at. We didn’t have any really close encounters but this didn’t matter as we still had them walking inches away from our feet! It was almost impossible to keep the penguin 5 metre rule as there was just so many of them but again if you moved very slowly it didn’t seem to bother them.
We were making our way slowly back down towards the beach when we saw a German lady from our group pick up an egg and give it a good shake! Both myself and Phil who were the closest too her asked her what the hell she was doing and told her to put it down. It really is people like her who will ruin the tourist industry in Antarctica, what an idiot! This is the woman who just constantly spoke to everyone in German. She engages you in conversation and even

We told one of the guides because we found her actions to be unacceptable and he just gave a tired look and said that the egg was long dead by now, even so how stupid can you be?
Getting back into the zodiacs was as much of a challenge as it was getting out of them, but we had waited until the end so were thankfully in the zodiac with all of the guides and not the stupid German lady! It was almost dinner time by the time we got back to the ship so after peeling off our layers we headed down to the restaurant. Again the quality of food was questionable but it didn’t spoil what was an outstanding day, but the day
