SYDNEY
men’s tennis on the steps of Sydney Opera House - life could be worse!!! Thankfully it was the semis with Bagdadus so the atmosphere was pretty lively. We watched it till it got rained off then headed back to the hostel for our last night before we were going to start our camping.

We woke in good spirits at the thought of leaving the hostel. We were heading to Lane Cove camp ground about 13 kms outside of central Sydney. Our bus took us over the harbour bridge so we got some good views of the Opera House, it was a sunny day and we were looking forward to getting at one with nature!!! Well it wasn’t exactly getting at one with nature due to the campsite having a complete camp kitchen, swimming pool and tv room with internet, which was great though!

We were all excited and looking
forward to things, until we actually put the tent up. Hmmmmm the tent was not quite as large as we had expected and in fact was far too small, we both just looked at it in horror! Why oh why didn’t we put it in the shop??? DOH big style!!! We both pretty much decided immediately that it was no good, we could hardly fit in it never mind all of our bags. The other tent that we had rejected was seeming like a much better bet, so Rob went off back into Sydney to change it. I know we should have checked it out but it was just one of those things, it is a mistake neither of us will ever make again! Anyway it could have been worse, I sat reading the Rough Guide for a few hours, Rob got to go back over the harbour bridge and 2 and a half hours later he was back with a much better tent. He had managed to swap it without a problem. Even thought the sleeping area is fairly small the tent has a dome shaped fly sheet which we can store our bags in!
