VICTORIA COAST (EAST)
and when it did, then it wasn’t long before the sun was beating down and we were boiled out of our tent. Within half and hour of us getting up, the wind started to blow pretty hard across the estuary, and it didn’t take us long to realise that we were right in its path. It was definitely a hold onto your hats kind of day.

After breakfast, which had to be eaten inside our little greenhouse due to the adverse wind conditions, we decided to walk down to the beach. The tide was out which meant we could walk around the estuary rather than having to walk through the campsite. If you have looked at our photos then you we have seen for yourself how absolutely scenic Mallacoota really is. The colour of the water was incredible, the air was so fresh, it was just fantastic. The beach had big rolling surf and the sound of the waves crashing was something I will always remember. It was a very happy day
and a place which we both could have spent a good week or so.

Due to the fantastic location of the campsite, we had thought it would be nice to have a barbie in the late afternoon and take full advantage of the fabulous views. The only downside to this campsite was that you had to pay for the barbies, they were $1 and only lasted about 3 minutes!!! Not so great when we had planned a full on, everything-on-the-barbie kind of meal! Still the campsite was really cheap so it wasn’t all bad. I guess we had just got used to them being free all over New South Wales. You would have laughed if you have seen us struggling with the wind, stuff was blowing all over the place. It was pretty hard to not only contend with the wind, but to fight off the seagulls as they were after pinching anything and everything the minute your back was turned! I’m sure we caused much amusement on the campsite as people
